This program funds fundamental scientific research to support advances in clean energy, climate change mitigation, and public safety through combustion and fire science. It covers combustion of various fuels, clean energy technologies, fire prevention in buildings and wildlands, and turbulence-chemistry interactions. Proposals should emphasize novelty and transformative potential. Various proposal types including CAREER, RAPID, EAGER, and GOALI are encouraged with prior consultation.
Open to all types of entities without restrictions, including academic, nonprofit, government, and industry applicants. Prior consultation with the program director is recommended for certain proposal types.
