This opportunity funds renewal of the INIA initiative to support two collaborative multisite consortia studying brain-body homeostatic dysregulation that promotes excessive alcohol drinking and related Alcohol Use Disorder phenotypes. Research focuses on hypothesis-driven studies of alcohol interactions, trajectories from initial exposure to pathological drinking, and identification of translatable markers. Projects will use advanced tools from the BRAIN Initiative and NIH Common Fund, emphasize standardization and replication, and integrate across biological scales and species.
