This opportunity funds observational studies investigating age-related neurodegeneration and dementias such as Alzheimer's disease in individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders. It encourages deep phenotyping and biomarker research to understand and develop tailored precision-medicine strategies for this understudied population. Collaborative projects between autism and aging/dementia experts are encouraged, utilizing the U01 activity code.
Eligible applicants include state and county governments, independent school districts, public and private higher education institutions, Native American tribal governments and organizations, nonprofits with 501(c)(3) status, for-profit organizations excluding small businesses, and small businesses.
