This grant supports exploratory and developmental research projects involving basic experimental studies with human participants. It funds early conceptual research that may be high-risk but has potential for major impact through novel techniques or methodologies in biomedical, behavioral, or clinical research. Projects must prospectively assign human participants to conditions and assess outcomes to understand fundamental phenomena, aligning with NIH Institutes' scientific missions.
