This fellowship supports recent doctoral scientists in astronomy and astrophysics to carry out integrated independent research and education programs. Funded activities include observational, instrumental, theoretical, laboratory, or archival data research. Fellows may choose eligible U.S. or affiliated international host institutions and receive support for up to three years to establish leadership in the scientific community.
Applicants must be U.S. citizens, nationals, or lawful permanent residents with a doctoral degree earned within five years prior to the deadline or by October 1 following the deadline. Proposals are submitted by individuals who identify mentors and host institutions eligible under NSF guidelines.
