This funding supports transdisciplinary teams developing mechanistic, biologically grounded explanations of neural circuits and CNS function. Research must integrate molecular, cellular, and systems neuroscience with strong collaboration between experimental and computational investigators. Projects should connect circuit component characterization, dynamic in vivo activity measurement, and behavior analysis using innovative frameworks and predictive models. Recipients will participate in BRAIN consortia to establish standards for multi-level integration.
Eligible applicants include U.S. state, county, city, and special district governments; public and private institutions of higher education; Native American tribal governments and organizations; nonprofits; for-profit organizations; and small businesses. Foreign organizations and foreign subawards/s
