The REU program funds undergraduate student research participation in NSF-funded areas through REU Sites and Supplements. REU Sites engage multiple students in single or interdisciplinary research projects with coherent themes. Supplements support ongoing NSF projects. Students must be U.S. citizens, nationals, or permanent residents and apply through individual REU Sites or Supplements. Projects with international dimensions are welcome.
Principal Investigators must be individuals responsible for overseeing REU Sites, with possible Co-Principal Investigators. Undergraduate participants must be U.S. citizens, nationals, or permanent residents. Students apply through individual REU Sites or Supplements, not NSF directly.
