Supports scientific research to enhance understanding and effectiveness of decision making by individuals, groups, organizations, and society. Funds disciplinary and interdisciplinary social and behavioral science research, doctoral dissertation improvement grants, conferences, RAPID grants for ephemeral data, and EAGER grants for high-risk, transformational projects. Research must be theory-grounded and generalizable, addressing fundamental scientific and societal issues in judgment, decision analysis, risk communication, public policy, and management science.
