The BRITE Program funds baccalaureate institutions to develop undergraduate freshmen and sophomores in bioengineering, biomedical imaging, and related STEM fields. It supports summer bridge programs, academic year educational activities, and summer research experiences, combining didactic, experiential, mentoring, and career development to prepare students for doctoral studies or research careers impacting health-related research.
Eligible applicants are public, state-controlled, and private institutions of higher education. The program targets baccalaureate degree granting institutions with modest NIH research funding.
