Supports projects aimed at developing or refining anthropologically relevant archaeometric techniques, such as methods for identifying organic residues or field-applicable analytic techniques. Also funds laboratories providing services like dating, trace element, isotopic, and dendrochronological analyses, as well as data archives to strengthen archaeological infrastructure. Proposals are reviewed by experts combining archaeological and archaeometric knowledge.
Eligible applicants are researchers with a Ph.D. or equivalent experience capable of conducting independent basic research. Undergraduate and graduate students may participate but cannot serve as PI, co-PI, or senior personnel.
