This grant supports the development of new research activities in categorical program areas with funding up to $275,000 in direct costs over a project period of up to two years. No preliminary data are required, and the research strategy is limited to 6 pages. Renewal is not permitted. Applicants are encouraged to consult NIH Scientific/Research staff during concept development to ensure appropriateness of the R21 application.
Applicants must align with the mission of at least one participating funding organization and meet all specific opportunity requirements.
