This program funds projects that develop and implement strategies to prevent homelessness among youth and young adults aged 12 to 26. It emphasizes serving high-risk populations, including those vulnerable to human trafficking, substance abuse, mental health challenges, or transitioning from foster care or juvenile justice. Grant recipients must involve youth with homelessness experience in project design, establish local youth advisory boards, and participate in a federally sponsored evaluation.
Eligible applicants include state, county, city, and special district governments, independent school districts, public and state-controlled higher education institutions, and federally recognized Native American tribal governments. Individuals and foreign entities are not eligible.
