The Research Specialist Award (R50) provides salary and travel support for exceptional non-tenure track scientists working in cancer research labs and core facilities. It supports stable, long-term careers for specialists who contribute critical expertise and leadership within existing NCI-funded programs but do not serve as independent investigators.
