The ASA DDRIG program funds doctoral students conducting theoretically grounded empirical dissertation research in sociology. It supports projects that advance understanding of fundamental social processes across any sociological sub-field and method. Awards provide up to $16,000 plus ASA membership and conference registration to support cutting-edge research that advances scientific knowledge and public good.
Applicants must be doctoral students enrolled at U.S. PhD-granting institutions with completed pre-dissertation requirements and a sponsoring faculty member. Prior NSF-funded DDRIG recipients are ineligible.
