This funding supports state, local, Tribal, and territorial prosecuting agencies to assign or hire qualified prosecutors as Special Attorneys or Special Assistant U.S. Attorneys. These cross-designated prosecutors investigate and prosecute fraud, crimes committed by criminal aliens, drug trafficking, and human trafficking within the U.S. in coordination with federal authorities. The program aims to strengthen prosecutorial capacity and intergovernmental coordination under Public Law 119-21.
Eligible applicants include county, city or township, state, and federally recognized Native American tribal governments, as well as other entities specified in additional eligibility information. Applicants must be prosecuting agencies able to assign or hire qualified prosecutors.
