The Lichtenberg Endowed Professorships fund new endowed positions at German universities to attract outstanding scholars from innovative, seminal, and risk-prone research areas. Each professorship is endowed with at least five million euros, combining foundation commitments and university fundraising. The initiative supports universities' innovation policies and incentivizes external funding acquisition, targeting internationally leading researchers across all disciplines.
Eligible applicants are highly qualified researchers of all disciplines and nationalities who are leaders in their fields and affiliated with a German university. The university must secure an additional three million euros for the endowment capital.
