This program provides funding to state, local, and tribal law enforcement agencies to modernize outdated National Integrated Ballistic Information Network (NIBIN) technology at 194 existing sites. Grants cover acquisition of new NIBIN-compatible ballistic imaging equipment and maintenance costs for five years, supporting enhanced crime gun intelligence, investigations, and multi-jurisdictional responses to criminal activity.
Eligible applicants are state, local, and tribal law enforcement jurisdictions listed in Appendix 1. The program targets agencies involved in crime gun intelligence and multi-jurisdictional law enforcement efforts.
