This program advances scientific datasets to enable AI-driven scientific discovery by applying AI for feature extraction, metadata generation, and dataset integration. It funds development of robust data pipelines for automated analysis and encourages augmenting datasets to improve AI usability. Proposals should address dataset security, governance, and leverage existing NSF data platforms and national infrastructure. Partnerships with philanthropy, industry, and non-profits are encouraged to expand impact.
Eligible applicants include U.S.-based for-profit organizations, non-profit non-academic organizations, federal agencies and FFRDCs, state and local governments, U.S. institutions of higher education, and federally recognized Tribal Nations. International branch campuses require justification.
