This program provides grants to eligible state, local, and tribal governments to support law enforcement and criminal justice operations targeting criminal illegal aliens. Funding covers hiring sworn and non-sworn personnel, purchasing technology and equipment, and constructing or renovating temporary detention facilities. Activities include apprehension, prosecution, detention, and support for Homeland Security Task Force efforts against gangs and violent crime.
Eligible applicants include state governments, county and city governments, special district governments, federally recognized Native American tribal governments, and other local government units such as towns and boroughs. Eligibility extends to U.S. states, territories, and tribal organizations.
