This program funds innovative laboratory and pilot-scale research projects focused on reducing costs, energy requirements, and barriers in treating impaired water for beneficial uses. Projects should demonstrate broad applicability and provide pathways to technology commercialization. Laboratory projects involve bench-scale studies completed within 24 months, while pilot projects test technologies at larger scales with natural water sources, completed within 36 months. The initiative supports development of new water resources and increased supply flexibility.
