This program funds public and state-controlled higher education institutions to partner with law enforcement and ATF to develop specialized curricula in forensic ballistics and crime gun intelligence. It supports hands-on student training in firearms evidence processing, ballistic analysis using NIBIN, CGI generation, and investigative methods to aid criminal apprehension. The program aims to increase trained forensic professionals and build sustainable partnerships to combat violent gun crime nationally.
Eligible applicants are private, public, and state-controlled institutions of higher education with established programs in criminal justice, forensic science, or related fields. Partnerships with local law enforcement and ATF are encouraged.
