This program funds innovative research on physics and nonlinear control of inertial measurement units, aiming to overcome performance plateaus of MEMS IMUs. It supports development of novel sensor architectures such as electromagnetically levitated proof masses and nonlinear resonators, emphasizing tight integration with real-time adaptive control to stabilize complex dynamics. Evolutionary improvements are excluded; the focus is on revolutionary advances for tactical and unmanned applications.
