This funding supports ambitious, foundational research in computer and information science and engineering through large, multidisciplinary teams. Projects should propose transformative agendas looking at least a decade ahead, addressing areas like new intelligence architectures, neuroscience-inspired learning, robotics, communication, and networking. Awards provide up to $15 million over seven years to enable high-risk, high-reward research that can redefine the future of computing.
Eligible applicants are accredited US institutions of higher education, including two- and four-year colleges and community colleges. Proposals may be submitted only by these institutions on behalf of their faculty members. International branch campuses require justification for inclusion.
