This funding opportunity supports states and local governments with crime laboratories conducting DNA analysis to increase their capacity to process DNA samples for entry into the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS). The goal is to reduce the backlog of forensic DNA and DNA database samples awaiting analysis and prevent future backlogs, enhancing forensic processing capabilities.
Eligible applicants include state, county, city, township, special district governments, public and state-controlled higher education institutions, and other local government units such as towns, boroughs, parishes, and villages.
