The MURI program supports U.S. academic teams conducting high-impact basic research on complex, multidisciplinary problems relevant to the Department of War. It fosters collaboration among faculty, postdocs, and graduate students to develop advanced defense-aware scientific capabilities and strengthen the U.S. defense industrial base.
Eligible applicants are U.S. institutions of higher education with degree-granting science or engineering programs, including Department of War institutions and eligible University Affiliated Research Centers. Industry, DoW labs, FFRDCs, and foreign entities may collaborate but cannot receive funds
