This competitive grant program supports state and local government forensic DNA laboratories to increase capacity and efficiency in processing DNA samples for entry into the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS). It prioritizes projects that implement Rapid DNA technology in booking stations and address operational challenges to strengthen evidence-based criminal justice responses.
Eligible applicants include state, county, city or township governments, special district governments, and other units of local government such as towns, boroughs, parishes, and villages.
