This grant supports technical assistance and training programs aimed at reducing solid waste through reduction, recycling, and reuse. It funds skill enhancement for landfill operators, planning for closed or closing landfills, and evaluation of landfill impacts on water resources. Eligible activities include training, technical assistance, and related expenses but exclude construction, political activities, and duplicative services. Applicants must demonstrate capacity and legal authority to provide regional assistance.
Eligible applicants include private nonprofit organizations with IRS tax-exempt status, public bodies, federally or state-recognized Native American tribes, and academic institutions legally established within a state. Private businesses, federal agencies, and individuals are ineligible.
