The Humboldt Research Professorship supports internationally leading researchers to conduct innovative research at German universities and institutions without leaving their positions abroad. Awardees are expected to initiate long-term collaborations and manage international research groups. The sponsorship lasts five years with options for extension and additional funding under certain conditions.
Outstanding researchers from abroad with a record of innovative research are eligible. Candidates must have lived and worked outside Germany for at least five years and be eligible for a German professorship at selection time.
