Imagining Freedom supports artistic and humanistic work that centers voices of people impacted by incarceration. It funds fellowships, residencies, scholarly and cultural projects addressing carceral histories, and expands access to humanities-based learning in carceral settings. The initiative excludes arts workforce training, youth programs, and re-entry programs, focusing on transformative cultural and scholarly work.
Eligible applicants are system-impacted artists, writers, and cultural workers. Programs focused on arts workforce development, youth under 18, diversion, and re-entry are excluded.
