This program funds First Nations communities on reserve to undertake non-structural projects that build resiliency and prepare for natural hazards including flooding, landslides, tsunamis, severe weather, and drought. Funded activities include risk assessments, mitigation and evacuation plans, training, emergency operations center exercises, mapping, community alert systems, and low-value equipment purchases such as radios and emergency kits. Applications are accepted until March 31, 2027, or until funds are exhausted.
Eligible applicants are First Nations communities, tribal councils, or Indigenous organizations located on reserves or specified lands as defined by Canadian law and treaties. Applications must be from entities on reserve or designated Indigenous lands.
