This program funds young researchers at Japanese institutions to conduct emergent research that promotes disruptive innovation through diversity and fusion. It offers up to 7 years of flexible support, extendable to 10 years with stage gate reviews, enabling researchers to focus on challenging, interdisciplinary projects with minimal constraints. Additional support includes flexible suspension, extension options, and research environment improvements.
Eligible applicants are primarily young researchers who are independent or expected to become independent at Japanese research institutions. The research institution must be located in Japan. Researchers not affiliated with a domestic institution at selection must transfer before starting research.
