The Community Development Block Grant Program provides federal funds to eligible local governments to support projects that improve livable neighborhoods, promote economic empowerment, and provide decent housing for low- to moderate-income people. Multiple subprograms address immediate threats, employment incentives, and economic development revolving loans. Individuals and nonprofits are not eligible to apply directly.
Eligible applicants are units of general-purpose local government such as cities or counties not participating in HUD's CDBG Entitlement or Urban County programs. Individuals and nonprofits cannot apply directly.
