Supports US small business concerns led by early-career scientists transitioning into entrepreneurship. Funds research and development alongside entrepreneurial training, mentoring, and career development. Requires inclusion of a mentor with measurable effort. Applications use R43/R44 codes and target first-time PD/PIs.
Eligible applicants are United States small business concerns as defined by the SBA. The principal investigator must be a first-time PD/PI on NIH or CDC research grants and be a U.S. Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident.
