This project funds research to create a spatially explicit framework assessing how aquatic contaminants and nutrient fluxes affect aerial insectivorous birds via their aquatic insect prey. It involves mapping elevated risk areas across the U.S. and Europe, elucidating spatial patterns of prey loss and contaminant exposure, and providing tools for species and habitat management at local to continental scales.
Eligible applicants must be participating partners of the Rocky Mountain Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit. This opportunity is issued under the Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Units Program, which supports partnerships providing research, technical assistance, and education.
