This funding supports U.S. small businesses conducting Phase I research and development projects to evaluate the feasibility, technical merit, and commercial potential of scientific innovations. Eligible applicants must be small business concerns with the PD/PI primarily employed by the business. Collaborating institutions may participate only as subcontractors. The grant aims to help bring innovations to the marketplace through rigorous early-stage research.
