This grant supports state agencies certified by PHMSA to conduct pipeline safety inspections in promoting underground damage prevention. Funded activities include compliance monitoring and enforcement, development of statistics, procurement of equipment, training programs, public education campaigns, and communication improvements to enhance one-call legislation and damage prevention efforts.
Eligible applicants are state agencies participating in the pipeline safety program with certification or agreement with PHMSA. Applications are accepted annually.
