This program provides funding to local governments and groups of individuals for technical assistance related to pipeline safety. Funded activities include engineering analysis, emergency response improvements, safe digging programs, pipeline safety information development, awareness campaigns, and enhancing public participation in official pipeline proceedings. Grants may not be used for lobbying, litigation support, or regulatory compliance activities.
Eligible applicants include cities, towns, villages, counties, Indian Tribes, parishes, townships, similar governmental subdivisions or consortiums, and groups of individuals. For-profit entities are excluded.
