The fellowship supports individuals conducting research or projects on journalism innovation, including digital transformation topics such as new revenue streams, reporting tools, and news consumption patterns. Fellows participate fully in Nieman and Berkman Klein programs and share their findings through the Nieman Journalism Lab.
Open to U.S. and international applicants who are working journalists or professionals in business, technology, or leadership roles at news organizations. Freelance journalists are also eligible.
