Proof of Concept funding supports projects in medical technology to achieve key technical milestones and validate technologies in relevant environments. It enables further technical development, early in vivo safety and efficacy studies, and small-scale clinical trials. Applicants must demonstrate high technical and commercial maturity, involve clinical and commercial partners, and have a clear IP strategy. Projects last up to 12 months and must be part of the Yorkshire MedTech pipeline or referred by a Technology Transfer Office.
Eligible applicants are researchers at UK universities or NHS bodies with research capacity eligible for UKRI funding. Principal Investigator must be employed by these institutions. Early Career Researchers and postdocs are encouraged. Projects can involve multiple institutions.
