This fund provides Local Authorities and Fire and Rescue Authorities in England with financial support to procure independent legal advice and expert services to pursue enforcement actions against building owners failing to remediate unsafe buildings. Funding is available in two options: up to £5,000 for legal case assessments and up to £100,000 for pursuing legal claims. The goal is to accelerate remediation, improve safety, and reduce risks to residents.
Eligible applicants are Local Authorities and Fire and Rescue Authorities in England responsible for buildings with fire safety defects. Applicants must be pursuing legal enforcement based on prior assessments and the building must meet specific safety and size criteria.
