This fund supports collaborative Discovery Phase projects tackling five key energy innovation challenges including accelerating industrial connections, faster infrastructure build, domestic energy devices, eliminating outages, and decentralised system balancing. Projects must plan development through Alpha, Beta, and Deployment phases. Funding up to £200,000 is available for projects starting in 2027 and lasting five months. Eligible leads are Ofgem licensed networks or the National Energy System Operator working with partners such as SMEs and academics.
Eligible applicants are private sector organisations licensed by Ofgem in gas or electricity networks or the National Energy System Operator.
