This competition funds projects to demonstrate innovative, low-cost counter uncrewed aerial systems (C-UAS) that autonomously detect and track drones near UK prison perimeters. Funded projects must adopt SAPIENT architecture for sensor interoperability and aim to provide real-time alerts to prison staff. Solutions with integrated non-kinetic countermeasures and drone identification capabilities are encouraged. Projects run for 2 months with budgets between £40,000 and £80,000 inclusive of VAT, culminating in prototypes ready for independent evaluation in March 2027.
Eligible applicants include public sector, non-profit, private sector organizations, and local authorities. Projects must be led by a single legal entity with most work and funding within the UK. International organizations may apply but must comply with UK regulations and sanctions.
