This opportunity funds projects demonstrating innovative hydropower technologies for efficient refurbishment of existing plants. Funded activities include turbine design improvements, digitalization, AI for operational strategies, new materials for durability, and climate adaptation tools. Projects must ensure socio-economic and environmental sustainability, including biodiversity assessments, and aim to reach TRL 6-7 by project end.
Eligible applicants must comply with Horizon Europe Work Programme conditions including page limits, eligible countries, and financial capacity. Entities controlled by China are excluded. Use of Copernicus or Galileo/EGNOS data is required if satellite data is used.
