This grant supports existing Specialist Dementia Care Program units to continue delivering intensive, specialised care for people with very severe behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia. Funding is provided for four years to maintain service delivery, improve resident wellbeing, reduce symptoms and adverse events, and support transitions to less intensive care. The program encourages partnerships with local health services and sharing of best practices across aged care and health sectors.
Eligible applicants are specific invited organisations currently operating established SDCP units with proven capability and infrastructure. The selection is closed and non-competitive, focusing on continuity and leveraging existing expertise.
