This program funds regional commercial airlines and aeromedical providers to maintain and expand essential air services connecting regional and remote Australian communities. It offers subsidies covering up to 60% of enroute charges for commercial routes and up to 100% for new routes for up to three years. Eligible routes must be low volume, single operator, and not subsidized by other government programs, with aircraft MTOW limits and appropriate certifications required.
Eligible applicants include commercial airlines with an Australian air transport AOC operating scheduled services on routes to/from regional or remote locations with low passenger volumes, and aeromedical providers with contracted services and appropriate AOC.
