The Simons HBCU Faculty Fellowship program funds junior tenure-track faculty at up to five HBCUs in mathematics, neuroscience, physics, and ecology and evolutionary biology. It provides a 50% teaching buyout for 1-5 years to enable fellows to focus on research, publish findings, submit federal grant proposals, and mentor students. Funding covers personnel, travel, supplies, and research expenses, fostering research excellence and student pathways into graduate STEM programs.
Accredited HBCUs may apply and nominate up to four junior tenure-track faculty in specified STEM fields. Nominated faculty must hold or be offered a junior tenure-track position and have at least one peer-reviewed publication or active research evidence.
