The Jack Hazard Fellowship awards $5,000 to full-time accredited U.S. high school teachers who are writers of fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry, or memoir. It enables recipients to dedicate Summer 2027 to their creative writing projects. Applicants must submit writing samples and project descriptions and agree to share reflections and work with the New Literary Project. The award is disbursed in two installments.
Applicants must be full-time high school instructors (grades 9-12) in the U.S. with at least three years of teaching experience. They must be writers in specified genres and commit to focusing on their writing during Summer 2027.
