The Sillerman First Book Prize awards $1,000 and publication to an African poet who has not yet published a poetry collection. Eligible submissions are anonymous poetry manuscripts in English or translations, at least 50 pages long. Multiple manuscripts may be submitted. The prize winner will be announced in summer 2027.
Open to African poets who have not published a book-length poetry collection. Eligible applicants must submit poetry in English. Employees and affiliates of the University of Nebraska Press, University of Nebraska, and Brown University are ineligible.
